Ole Miss releases first availability report ahead of SEC opener
The changing landscape of college football provides another example this week for Ole Miss as it releases its first availability report of the season.
Through the first four weeks the Rebels, and head coach Lane Kiffin, did not have to be as transparent about injuries, something Kiffin is not a huge fan of in the first place. But a new rule put in place ahead of the 2024 season by the Southeastern Conference is causing Kiffin to adapt.
With No. 6 Ole Miss opening up SEC play this weekend against Kentucky the team must provide availability reports for each week of conference games. For the Rebels (4-0) that is the remainder of the season.
Wednesday is the first day a team must submit the report — which is not an injury report — to the SEC office. Then updated reports are submitted on Thursdays and Fridays before a final report is submitted 90 minutes before kickoff on Saturdays.
There is not a lot to discern from the first report provided by Kiffin. Again, there is not any injury information but only an ‘out’ or ‘game time decision’ distinction is provided for each player listed.
Here are the players listed on the first availability report of the season for Ole Miss:
Jeremy James — OUT
Cedrick Beavers — OUT
Izaiah Hartrup — OUT
Devin Price — OUT
Logan Diggs — OUT
Cam East — OUT
Joshua Pfeifer — OUT
Hudson Wolfe — OUT
Louis Moore — Doubtful
Akelo Stone — Doubtful
Ayden Williams — Questionable
Isaiah Hamilton — Questionable
Walter Nolen — Probable
T.J. Dottery — Probable
Brandon Turnage — Probable
Dae’Quan Wright — Probable
Jordan Watkins — Probable
Jared Ivey — Probable
Chris Graves, Jr. — Probable
JJ Pegues — Probable
Salathiel Hemphill — Probable
Jayden Williams — Probable
Caleb Warren — Probable
Micah Pettus — Probable
Gerquan Scott — Probable
Nate Kalepo — Probable
Good news on the offensive line front with both Caleb Warren and Gerquan Scott listed as ‘probable.’ Scott returned two weeks ago at Wake Forest but did not play against Georgia Southern. Warren will be making his season debut if he plays against Kentucky.
Jared Ivey’s name in the ‘probable’ group is a positive for Ole Miss as he is returning from missing one game due to an ankle sprain suffered during the game at Wake Forest. He sat out the non-conference finale against Georgia Southern last weekend.
Ivey confirmed his intentions to play to the Ole Miss Spirit while recording his latest episode of ‘The Ivey League’ podcast.
Ayden Williams on the ‘questionable’ group sheds some light on his lack of playing time and limited snaps in recent weeks.
