Ole Miss emerging in recruitment of four-star offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews
Toms River North (N.J.) offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews recently spoke with On3’s Chad Simmons about his recruitment. The former Penn State commitment gave a pulse check on the latest with his summer plans and the new team on the block: Ole Miss.
“Ole Miss got in a little later than other schools on my list, but I like the football program and how Lane Kiffin coaches, so I want to check them out,” Matthews told On3. “I have never been there, but I am talking with coach John Garrison and he seems like a great guy. Now we are talking about an official visit, so we will see how it goes.”
The 6-foot-5, 275 pound prospect is the nation’s 308th overall prospect. He is also the No. 24 offensive tackle and 9th-ranked recruit in the state of New Jersey.

Jaelyne Matthews’ stepfather, John Fowler, told NJ.com recently why he thinks Jaelyne Matthews is one of the best.
“Jaelyne has the cheat code,” Fowler said. “God gave him this height, this weight, and the gift. He’s blessed. People say stuff like that all the time. No, he’s blessed.”
Matthews’ head coach, Dave Oizerowitz, also sings the four-star’s praises after coaching him for three years.
“He has a huge personality. He’s gregarious, and engaging,” Oizerowitz said. “A very social person who really lights up the room when he walks in it.”
Matthews tells Simmons he plans on visiting Ole Miss in June. He will visit Rutgers this weekend before heading south to Miami on June 7. On June 14, he will visit Tennessee. Ole Miss could get an official visit after the dust settles.
