Ole Miss could have historic number of NFL Draft selections in 2025
Ole Miss football has nearly a year until the NFL Draft process rolls around again.
But the Rebels are currently well-positioned for a potentially historic crop of selections in 2025.
Ole Miss has never had double-digit picks, though eight Rebels were selected in both 1956 and 1958. Draft rounds went into the 20s in those days, however. There were also double-digit rounds in 1968 and 1971. The Rebels had nine players taken those two years, the most ever.
The most Ole Miss draftees in the modern, seven-round era is six in both 2019 and 2022. Three Rebels (Deantre Prince, Cedric Johnson and Daijahn Anthony) went in 2023. Prince was off the board first — to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and in the fifth round.
Ole Miss currently has six players on PFF’s Big Board for the 2025 NFL Draft. Princely Umanmielen, an off-season transfer addition from Florida, is currently tops of all Rebels at No. 28 overall. Umanmielen, an EDGE, is in the recovery process from off-season labrum surgery.
Star Rebel wide receiver Tre Harris isn’t far behind. He’s No. 34, followed by Walter Nolen at No. 59 and Antwane ‘Juice’ Wells at No. 75. Nolen is transfer defensive tackle from Texas A&M and former five-star prospect. Wells is a transfer wide receiver from South Carolina.
“I wanted to be with a quarterback who’s actually experienced in the SEC and can actually control the offense,” Wells said in April of his transfer decision. “Also, I want to win, man. I don’t like losing. I’m a competitor.”
His quarterback is Jaxson Dart, who’s in his third year starting at Ole Miss.
Dart’s No. 88, according to PFF. Ole Miss third-year starting quarterback Jaxson Dart is No. 88. Tight end Caden Prieskorn — formerly of Memphis, and entering his second Rebel season — is No. 109.
A number of mocks on nflmockdraftdatabase.com have Dart projected as a second-rounder, along with Harris, while Umanmielen and Nolen are first-rounders.
Other now-draft-eligible Rebels drawing early NFL interest include, but aren’t limited to, defensive linemen Jared Ivey and JJ Pegues, offensive linemen Diego Pounds, Jeremy James, Caleb Warren, Nate Kalepo and Julius Buelow, wide receiver Jordan Watkins and defensive backs Key Lawrence, Trey Amos, Yam Banks, John Saunders and Isaiah Hamilton.
Hamilton is a transfer cornerback from Houston and committed to Ole Miss last week. He has an 86.9 PFF grade since 2021. Hamilton also had 12 interceptions, 18 pass break-ups, a 70.2 passer rating allowed and a 90.8 coverage grade over that span.
“Hamilton is great in zone coverage and diagnoses the play well,” Charlie Williams of Inside Texas said, in providing a scouting report of Hamilton. “He jumps routes often — a high-risk, high-reward strategy. His film displays his unique speed and twitch. He competes for the football and has great hands to make a play.”
