Ole Miss commit Demond Williams Jr. showcased the full skill set at Elite 11

Ole Miss commit Demond Williams Jr. showcased the full skill set at Elite 11

Basha (Ariz.) quarterback and four-star Ole Miss commit Demond Williams Jr. spent the weekend in Oxford, Miss., with his father, Demond Williams Sr. It was his second trip this spring. But this time it was for the Elite 11 Regional.

The 5-foot-11, 180 pound prospect arrived, decked out in Ole Miss gear and flashing some red cleats, ready to put the full arsenal on display. After the testing period, the quarterbacks are put through several drills with the Elite 11 instructors and coaches. Williams was among the top group on Sunday, but did unfortunately did not receive an invite to the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles later this summer.

This did not deter the Rebel commit from taking it all in and enjoying the day.

“I think I did pretty good,” Williams said. “I was on top of a couple of my throws but I was spinning it well out there today. I feel like I did my thing.”

The exercise was not lost on the Arizona recruit, though. He tells OMSpirit the whole experience was a blast and it was a good time to get out and learn and compete with some of the best guys in 2024 and 2025.

“I just need to work on staying on top of my footwork and getting underneath myself with my throws.”

Afterwards, Williams and his father were packing up and making the short drive over to town for another unofficial visit.

“I think we’re going to go get dinner tonight then figure it out from there.”

2024 Ole Miss target and Arkansas commit Noreel White was also in town over the weekend. Demond Williams Jr. got a chance to talk with him.

“Yeah, Noreel, JJ (Harrell), Caleb (Odom) and Anthony Carrie are my top targets,” Williams said. “I’m working all of them and trying to get them to join me.”

The Ole Miss commit is solid in his commitment and his recruitment is “shut down” despite other programs still hanging around and trying to gauge his interest. He says head coach Lane Kiffin and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. are his main contacts and the communication is “consistent”.

“We’re on great footing,” Williams said. “They are always talking with me and checking in to see how things are going.”

Williams is the No. 271 overall prospect and No. 15 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average which utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 4 player in Arizona.

As a junior, Williams threw for 2,339 yards and 23 touchdowns to just one interception.

He also added 764 yards and five more touchdowns with his legs. He led Basha to the program’s first Open Division championship against Saguaro (Ariz.) last season. National analysts have compared Demond Williams to former Oklahoma and current Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Kyler Murray.

But there’s a more recent prospect Williams patterns his game after.

“I watch a lot of Bryce Young,” Williams said in an exclusive interview with OMSpirit. “I really like the way he just lets the game come to him and he’s always poised. I also watch a lot of CJ Stroud. Both have a similar game to me and I think I can do what they do.”

Williams tells OMSpirit he’s not only excited to get back to Oxford, his “future home”, but also to compete with some of the best prospects around the southeast.

He plans on taking his official visit in the fall when Ole Miss plays LSU. However, he will be back in Oxford before for another unofficial visit.

“Juice Fest 23 is at the end of July,” Williams said. “I will be here and will be recruiting.”

Williams Jr. has an On3 NIL Valuation of $100K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index which sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

He doesn’t have much interest in NIL at the moment, but Williams does have one thing in mind due to his trademark hairdo.

“I use SheaMoisture so maybe that’s a possibility.”
