Oklahoma’s Big Visit Weekend Starts Today

The Sooners will close out their summer visit schedule with an audacious set of events – Wednesday’s Sooners under the Stars and Friday’s Party at the Palace. For those that don’t remember the Party is the event last year that saw Oklahoma’s momentum shift with names like David Hicks, Colton Vasek, and Makari Vickers among others. Looking at those names may create some PTSD for Sooners fans but there’s no denying how well those visits went.
In this week’s WOKElahoma we’ll talk about several visitors hitting campus in the next 72 hours.
One player who already made his visit to campus this week and came away glowing about the experience is 2025 Lewisville, Texas offensive tackle Michael Fasusi.
“(We) loved it,” Fasusi said of his trip to Norman. “It was really just bout getting the fam out there. We were with the coaches the whole time and had great conversations.”
Fasusi was joined on the trip by his father, Ebenezer, his mother Olayemi, and his sister Abigail. It was his third trip to Norman but his family’s first and according to Fasusi they were blown away with what Brent Venables and Bill Bedenbaugh showed them.
Expect Fasusi to return again during the season and for him to hit up Florida as well as, possibly, Oregon this week.
A New Sooners Prediction Going In
Since the weekend we’ve talked a lot about Oklahoma playing host to Alliance, Ohio three-star quarterback Brendan Zurbrugg. The Northwestern commitment picked up an offer from the Sooners just eight days ago and will be in Norman on Friday.
Zurbrugg has gone through a chaotic month and a half with an early commitment to Syracuse that he flipped in short order to Northwestern. But that’s just scratching the surface for Zurbrugg.

He broke down the fast-changing style of his recruitment since early June.
“So first back in April I threw for Northwestern and (before they could offer me) a kid committed there. So then I took an official visit to Syracuse planning on committing. That Friday morning of my official visit, Northwestern’s kid decommitted and they offered me. So I stuck with my plan and committed (to Syracuse),” Zurbrugg explained. “I didn’t want to take a visit (to Northwestern) at first but enough people talked me into it so I ended up visiting. I ended up loving it and thought I was a great fit with a great coach who wasn’t going to leave, then next thing I know all that crazy stuff broke out.
“A couple weeks after that happened, Oklahoma reached out and offered me a few days later. Now I have a visit planned for this week and that’s where I’m at now.”
Though he’s still learning about the Sooners he admits this visit weekend is intriguing.
“(It is an) amazing program and so far I love the coaches,” he explained. “I’m pretty excited about my visit this week.”
It’s well known to Oklahoma fans that Oklahoma already has a 2024 and 2025 commitment and for Zurbrugg there will be no surprises.
“They’ve talked a little with me about the quarterback room right now. Oklahoma always has good quarterbacks, so it’ll be great competition,” he said.
With all of this said, it’s time for a prediction for the Sooners to land Zurbrugg.
A Couple of Changes to the Party at the Palace Visitor List
On Monday it was clear Oklahoma would host a pair of On300 defenders. On Wednesday, things seem much more murky.
That’s because in various reports, including by SoonerScoop.com, that both CJ Jackson and Brayden Platt would be on campus those trips now seem far less certain.
Sources spoke with Jackson who says he’ll be staying in the Atlanta area and visiting Georgia Tech. It’s worth acknowledging that recruiting has a lot of strange twists but it seems unlikely he’ll be in Norman.
Platt’s situation is similarly confusing in the messaging. On Monday he was seemingly set to be in Norman but then Brandon Huffman of 247sports spoke with Platt who, at that time, denied any such plan.
So what’s the story?
It sounds like neither will be on campus this weekend though the initial info being this far off is notable. Why is that? Largely because it’s unlikely that there was never any basis to those trips happening. So what’s with the denial now? It could be any of a number of things from a change of plans to wanting to keep things quieter.
We’re taking them at their word that neither will be on campus this weekend to join Danny Okoye and others.
