Oklahoma State combo guard Javon Small to visit Ole Miss
Ole Miss and head coach Chris Beard have added five portal commits since the spring window opened up this month. With four players entering the transfer portal, for now the Rebels have two spots remaining on the 2024-2025 roster. Now, another visitor will be making his way to campus this week. Oklahoma State combo guard Javon Small will be in town “this week”, per a source.
In 31 games this season, Small averaged 15.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, shooting 44 percent from the floor and 37 percent from three-point range. He started his college career at East Carolina before transferring to play for the Cowboys.
Small played his high school ball at Compass Prep (Ariz.) where he was a four-star prospect. The 6-foot-3, 195 pound recruit averaged 11.0 points, 3.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game as a senior, helping the Dragons to a 28-2 record and a semifinal berth at the 2021 Geico High School Nationals.

At ECU, Javon Small was a game changer prior to a season-ending injury.
He averaged 15.8 points and 5.6 assists in 34.7 minutes (up from 2.0 points and 1.1 assists in 9.1 minutes as a true freshman) but missed the final 15 games. Small finished 18th nationally in assist rate (35.5) in the 2022-2023 season, per KenPom.
Ole Miss hosted Virginia Tech’s Sean Pedulla Monday and are down the line with Texas Tech’s Pop Isaacs. With two spots left and the portal additions all being front court players, it seems Beard and the staff are looking to add some backcourt players.
