Ohio State WR commit Jeremiah Smith staying busy this fall, including one final official visit

It is going to be hard to flip Jeremiah Smith from Ohio State. The Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver out of Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna has been committed to the Buckeyes since Dec. 14, 2022. The No. 1 prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings will be back in Columbus on Sept. 9 for the Youngstown State game, then he plans to return on Oct. 21 for the Penn State game.

His final two visits could go to Florida State, though. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound playmaker plans to be at in Tallahassee for the Miami game on Nov. 11. Smith said he will take an official visit in December as well.

“Coach Mike Norvell has kept his word to me,” Smith told On3. “He told me my freshman year that he would get the program back and he is doing that. Last year they did great and Coach Norvell knows how I feel about the program. He is a player’s coach that cares about his players on the field and I will be back at Florida State a couple of more times.”

Before getting back to Tallahassee, Smith will take in games at Miami. Smith likes what Kevin Beard is doing with the wide receivers and he wants to see how the offense performs this fall. The Texas A&M and Clemson games are on his schedule.

Florida also pushing to get Jeremiah Smith back on campus

Florida is likely to have Smith back at the Swamp too, but there is no date set yet. He is in regular contact with Billy Gonzales, Billy Napier and Florida quarterback commit DJ Lagway.

The in-state programs aren’t giving up, but Smith’s path to playing on Sundays keeps him feeling good about Ohio State. When asked about why he is still committed to Ohio State, Smith said, “Why not?”

“Coach Brian Hartline is up there and you see what he is doing with receivers. I am trying to be a first-round draft pick… You see what he does with receivers and that is what keeps me locked in. That is the reason I am going up there.”

Going there in January is Smith’s plan. But he is not completely shutting the door yet in August.

“I am not shutting it down until the Early Signing Period, but nobody is telling me anything different, so I am sticking with Ohio State right now.”
