Ohio State pulls ahead for 3-star WR Elijah Moore

Ohio State pulls ahead for 3-star WR Elijah Moore

Olney (Md.) Good Counsel three-star wide receiver Elijah Moore kicked off his June official visit schedule with a trip back to Ohio State. He recently took one to Maryland and has another set to Florida State later in the month.

Moore acknowledges that those three schools may be at the top in his recruitment at this point but it’s the Buckeyes who currently sit as the favorite in his eyes.

“Coach (Brian) Hartline is very passionate about receivers, teaching receivers and putting them in the NFL,” Moore told On3. “I’m passionate about the play standpoint of a receiver like footwork drills, releases and route running. I see that passion in Coach Hartline.

“He’s passionate about me and kept it real with me about my talent and what I can work on. I’m all about playing receiver and I’d love to be developed by the best.”

The trip back to Columbus was the third that Moore has taken in the last year. He visited for the first time last November as he was in attendance for their game against Michigan.

Ohio State extended Moore an offer the next day and he returned in March for another official visit. However, neither his mom or older brother were able to go on those trips with him.

That wasn’t the case this time around as they were both able to come with Moore and experience Ohio State like he had twice before.

“I got to hang with the players while my mom and older brother got to hang with Coach Hartline and his family, Coach Day and his family,” said Moore, the No. 514 player in the country. It was a great experience.”

Florida State and Maryland sticking around for Moore

Moore may view Ohio State as his top school but Florida State and Maryland aren’t making things easy on the Buckeyes.

Both schools extended offers to Moore during his freshman year and have stayed in constant contact with him. They both continued to show interest in Moore during his sophomore year even after he had surgery to fix a torn labrum and missed six weeks of the season.

Florida State was Moore’s second offer. He’s visited Tallahassee once before but said he’s excited to get back down to campus and reconnect with the coaching staff and players.

“Florida State is one of the schools that kept communicating with me no matter what,” Moore said. “Once I got down there, it seemed like they knew me more than I knew myself. They made me feel at home.”

Maryland extended their offer to Moore shortly after Florida State. Prior to his official visit this last weekend, he had visited a few times before but his neither of his parents had been able to attend.

They were able to on the official and Moore and parents left campus impressed with what they experienced.

“I like the coaching staff, it’s my hometown and they’re a Big Ten school,” Moore said of the Terrapins. “It’s not like a lot of people have a Big Ten school in their hometown so they play teams like Ohio State and Michigan. Maryland’s always been a dream college to go to.

“Them recruiting me since my freshman year to now and making me feel at home before I even get to college, that means a lot to me.”
