Ohio State prioritizing in-state recruiting efforts in SummerFest guest list

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has made it a point of emphasis in the last few recruiting cycles to prioritize in-state prospects.

Head coach Ryan Day has championed that as long as he’s at the helm of the program, the Buckeyes will leave no stone left unturned on the trail.

And he has backed that up with the class Ohio State has signed. At least six Ohioans have signed in every recruiting class since Day took over the program. The Buckeyes signed seven in the 2023 cycle and they have seven in the 2024 class.

A look at the expected visitors’ list for tonight’s SummerFest recruiting event shows that Ohio State is talking the talk and walking the walk.

Lettermen Row has 16 Ohioans expected at the Buckeyes event on campus this evening. There more likely than not will be more, but certainly not less.

A bulk of that in-state list is from the 2024 class, but that’s exactly what Ohio State wants. Bryce West, Garrett Stover, Deontae Armstrong, Devontae Armstrong, Sam Williams-Dixon and Marc Nave all will be on campus today.

The 2025 cycle is led by quarterback commit Tavien St. Clair, but the list behind him is impressive. Offensive tackle Carter Lowe will be there expectedly. Running back Marquise Davis and cornerback Dorian Brew will be there. He’s a rising prospect, but linebacker Eli Lee will be on campus and so will Luka Gilbert, Grant Beerman and Jackson Wiley.

It doesn’t stop there. Cam Thomas represents 2026 along with Kyle Kirby.

There’s a clear direction the Buckeyes are going on the recruiting trail. They are prioritizing Ohio the way it needs to be while remaining national.

And that’s a model that is here to stay for as long as Ryan Day remains with the Buckeyes.

And that certainly won’t be changing any time soon.
