Ohio State offers new offensive lineman: ‘It was one of the greatest feelings of my life’

As summer nears, Ohio State has started to cast the net a bit wider when it comes to their search for class of 2025 offensive linemen.

In the process of doing that, Justin Frye has gone on the road over the last week to see a number of targets that the program could add to current pledge Carter Lowe. One of Frye’s stops was to Roswell High School in Georgia to see 6-foot-4, 285-pounder Andrew Stargel.

Stargel entered Frye’s visits with nearly 35 offers and was starting to narrow things down a bit, but the Ohio State offer was certainly a big one for him.

“Coach Frye came to my school and we talked for a while and then he came back and watched me get a workout in on the field,” Stargel told Lettermen Row. “Then the next morning he called me, told me he wanted me to be a Buckeye, and offered me a scholarship. It was one of the greatest feelings of my life.”

Stargel has yet to visit Ohio State, but the offer immediately put the Buckeyes at the top of his consideration set.

“They’re easily in the top 5 of my 34 scholarship offers,” he said. “I’m excited to get up there soon and see everything.”

Stargel told Lettermen Row that he doesn’t have a visit date set yet but is working quickly to get one set up. His other top schools currently include Kentucky, Vanderbilt, North Carolina State, and UCF, with summer visits planned before he makes a commitment.

“I’m planning on committing July 4,” he shared. “Relationships, development, and academics are the most important factors in my decision.”

Stargel is ranked as a 3-star prospect per the On3 Industry Rankings.
