Ohio State offers 2026 in-state cornerback Elbert Hill

COLUMBUS — Ohio State hosted its first recruiting camp of the summer last week and it was certainly a success for some.

One of those successful campers was 2026 Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban cornerback Elbert Hill.

The 5-foot-10, 161-pound defensive back out of Northeast Ohio made the hour-and-change trek down to Ohio State with one intention and one intention only: earn an offer. After an impressive two-and-a-half-hour workout, that’s exactly what he did.

“It’s a great feeling,” Hill told Lettermen Row. “All the hard work I have been putting in is paying off.”

The rising sophomore already owns a nice collection of offers ranging from Group of 5 schools to College Football Playoff contenders. Michigan, Miami and Pittsburgh are the main heavy hitters alongside Ohio State.

Even with those other offers, the one from the Buckeyes just has a little more weight to it according to Hill.

“It feels great to have an offer from a state I grew up in.”

Hill would love to return to Columbus this summer, but his schedule is taking him elsewhere so he can showcase his skills in multiple venues. He plans on camping at Pitt, West Virginia and Penn State, but he hasn’t ruled out a return to Ohio State.

If not in the summer, Hill definitely plans on making it back for a game-day visit this fall.

Part of his offer comes with the opportunity to build up his relationship with Ohio State cornerback coach Tim Walton. Hill was a fan of his coaching style at camp Thursday and is looking forward to learning more about Walton.

“It was great he showed me a lot of techniques,” Hill said. “I’d love to build that great relationship with him.”

Other 2026 Offers

Elbert Hill is the 19th prospect in the 2026 cycle to hold an Ohio State offer.

He is the first cornerback in the cycle with an Ohio State offer, and the fourth in-state prospect with an offer.

Hill was one of two prospects offered at Thursday’s camp. Four-star Indianapolis (Ind) Ben Davis cornerback Mark Zackery was the other.
