Ohio State making a move for Arkansas 4-star DL commit Charleston Collins

Pine Bluff (Ark.) Wilbur D. Mills four-star defensive lineman Charleston Collins has been committed to Arkansas since April 21. He is returning to the Razorbacks next weekend for an official visit.
Yet Ohio State is not giving up in Collins’ recruitment. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound recruit is already feeling good about the Buckeyes and plans to take an official to Columbus.
“The communication with Ohio State has been amazing,” Collins told On3. “It’s an every other day conversation, just checking in and making sure we’re good. Coach (Larry) Johnson was really strong with building the connection and the bridge between me and him, him and my family. I really love that program and he’s a really great guy.”
If Collins ends up making an official visit to Ohio State, it will mark his first time seeing the Buckeyes. The No. 1 player in Arkansas shared that he has had interest in the Big Ten program for a long time.
“Since I was a little kid, I have pictures of me with their jersey on,” said Collins, the No. 105 overall prospect in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking. “I’ve always been an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. They were my childhood dream school.”
Collins discusses his status with Arkansas and other programs
At the moment, Ohio State’s 2024 recruiting class does not contain any defensive linemen. Meanwhile, Collins is the top-ranked prospect in Arkansas’ 2024 class.
Despite his interest in Ohio State, Collins is still feeling good about the Razorbacks. Arkansas currently has commitments from two of the top players in the state in Collins and Pine Bluff (Ark.) four-star athlete Courtney Crutchfield.
“Right now, I love them,” Collins said. “I love the program, I love what they’re doing, I love the class that they’re building. But it’s a long time until December. Anything can happen.”
Since his pledge to the Razorbacks, Ohio State is not the only school to pick up momentum in Collins’ recruitment. Others include Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma and Oregon.
Arkansas and Ohio State also may not the only programs to receive official visits from Collins.
“I see myself taking other OVs to schools such as LSU and Texas A&M,” Collins said. “I have to give one to Michigan. Coach (Chris) Patridge, that’s my guy. We built our connection while he was at Ole Miss. It’s been since his first day at Michigan. He gave me that phone call and gave me that offer.”
