Ohio State linebacker target Riley Pettijohn cuts final schools list
COLUMBUS — Ohio State routinely finds itself on top school lists and the Buckeyes have done it once again.
Four-star McKinney (Texas) linebacker Riley Pettijohn included Ohio State in his top four. Texas, Texas A&M and USC are the others in the mix.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Texas native is the No. 33 overall prospect and the No. 2 linebacker according to the On3 Industry Rankings. On3 has Pettijohn as the No. 42 overall prospect and the No. 2 linebacker
Where do the Buckeyes stand in this recruitment? Who’s the leader? Lettermen Row breaks it all down.
Ohio State
Pettijohn cut his top schools list in the middle of his Ohio State official visit, so it’s a very good thing that the Buckeyes were one of the four programs mentioned.
Ohio State first got Pettijohn to campus in March for an unofficial visit that was eye-opening to both him and his family.
The earliest intel Lettermen Row has gathered from this weekend’s official visit is from the Ohio State side of things. A source inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center shared that the Buckeyes thought the visit went as well as it could. That same source took the time to mention Pettijohn and four-star Port St. Lucie (Fla) Vero Beach linebacker and Ohio State commit Tarvos Alford had a ‘blast’ spending time together.
The post-visit glow is very bright as of now and we are scheduled to speak with the Pettijohn’s later on Sunday, but the Buckeyes have put themselves in a good position here.
The Field
Pettijohn has three more official visits this summer and they are, you guessed it. Texas, Texas A&M and USC.
He goes to USC, then Texas and Texas A&M gets the final official visit.
Most industry insiders feel that the Longhorns are the program to beat. Be sure to follow Lettermen Row, however, for more inside knowledge about the official visit at Ohio State this weekend.
