Official overview: Where the Florida Gators sit with each weekend visitor

It was another busy weekend in Gainesville, Fla., as the Florida Gators hosted 15 official visitors. How’d they do? Who could be trending Florida’s way? Who will be a tough get for Billy Napier & Co.?

Here’s a quick overview …

4-star LB Myles Graham, College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy: FLORIDA COMMIT. Graham does not plan to visit any other schools and said he has completely shut things down.

-4-star TE Walter Matthews, Hiram (Ga.): This continues to be a Florida-Southern California battle. The Trojans seemed to be trending big after he visited them June 2-4, but then Florida gave him plenty to think about over the weekend. He’s probably closest with the Gators staff, but he has visited USC multiple times and potentially could return this week (he’ll be in California for a camp). We’ve heard the Gators are happy with how his visit went but this one still probably could go either way.

-4-star WR Chance Robinson, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas: MIAMI COMMIT. Robinson is a top Florida target and the Gators are very much in this despite him being a ‘Canes pledge. So is Penn State, which hosted him on an official earlier this month. According to our intel, some at Penn State actually think Florida might be the Nittany Lions’ main competition. Worth noting, the ‘Canes will host Robinson on June 23.

-4-star WR Caleb Odom, Carrollton (Ga.): Recently, he called Alabama his leader. But his visit to Gainesville has given the Gators a major boost and they’re a factor, too. Auburn, Miami and Ole Miss are among those also involved. Odom said he hopes to have a “July — late summer” commitment decision. And, he added, he might be back at Florida the final week of July. The Gators appear to be trending in the right direction, but it’s far from over.

-4-star S Zay Mincey, Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland: The Gators are the current favorites for the No. 140 recruit in the country and his official visit probably helped solidify that. But Mincey, at least right now, might be in no hurry to make a decision. He plans to officially visit Florida State this coming weekend. Miami, Texas A&M and Alabama also are involved. His decision could come as early as this summer and as late as December — so he’s kind of all over the map there.

-4-star OT Michael Uini, Copperas Cove (Texas): Uini seemed to enjoy his Gators official, however, several programs still are involved. He officially visited Clemson the previous weekend. Now, he plans to visit Alabama, Georgia and Michigan. A return trip to Gainesville the last week in July is possible. The quote that caught our attention came when Uini said he planned to commit Sept. 9 “but Clemson made it clear that I might want to speed things up a little bit. So, maybe around July or August timeframe.”

-4-star WR Jerrae Hawkins, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy: Florida and Penn State are his top two, Hawkins said Saturday. But could the Gators be trending? Not only did they impress him during his official visit but it’s possible the Nittany Lions might not have room. Miami also is involved. Right now, Florida might be the most likely landing spot. Penn State will host him June 23, then Hawkins will announce June 26. It would not be a surprise to see him land at Florida.

-4-star edge Jaylen Harvey, Potomac (Md.) Quince Orchard: Penn State is the RPM favorite and the confidence is supposedly quite high in Happy Valley, Pa. But Harvey said the Gators impressed him over the weekend and added he could picture himself playing in Gainesville. Officials remain to Southern California and Maryland. He will announce his decision July 4.

-3-star TE Eric Karner, Itasca (Ill.) Immaculate Conception: Florida, which is battling Iowa and Texas A&M, moved into the lead over the weekend. But Karner still has upcoming officials with the Hawkeyes and Aggies. The Gators made their move but this one might be far from over. It’s too soon to make a call with this one.

-3-star CB Justin Denson Jr., Providence (R.I.) La Salle Academy: Denson lists Florida as his No. 1 but to our knowledge the Gators have not pushed for his commitment. He said he’ll return to Gainesville this week, possibly to camp for the staff. If Florida gives him the green light to commit, we think it’s very possible he would.

-3-star OT Marcus Mascoll, Snellville (Ga.) South Gwinnett: LSU was trending before the visit, and that’s probably still the case. However, Florida seems to have narrowed the gap. Mascoll plans to officially visit N.C. State next weekend, then announce his choice June 19.

Have the Florida Gators become the favorites for two players in the trenches?

-3-star DL Michai Boireau, Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside: According to Boireau, Florida has opened up a sizable lead. At least one other recruit in town over the weekend thinks Florida is the team to beat. But he still plans to visit Georgia, Michigan and Ole Miss. Then, he’ll likely have a July decision. For now at least, the Gators seem to be in a favorable spot.

-3-star DB Ashton Hampton, Tallahassee (Fla.) FSU School: Hamptons declined to be interviewed following his visit. He officially visited Clemson the previous weekend and will hit Arkansas this week. It’s unclear where he sits on Florida’s defensive backs board at this time.

-3-star OT/IOL Mike Williams, Baltimore (Md.) Charles Herbert Flowers: Former South Carolina commit. Still has an official scheduled to Miami but he’s trending heavily toward Florida and could have a decision in the very near future. The Gators appear to be in the driver’s seat. His parents live in Orlando, and that’s something that also works in Florida’s favor. Right now, the arrow is pointing to Gainesville.

-(2023) UR edge Quincy Ivory, East Los Angeles College: Landed Gators offer during visit and committed to them Saturday. He plans to enroll at Florida this summer and will have three years of eligibility remaining. Ivory played quarterback and linebacker last season at East Los Angeles College. On defense, he recorded 8 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries in 10 games as a freshman.
