Offered 2027 athlete Dakota Guerrant discusses unique camp experience at Ohio State
COLUMBUS – Not many prospects work out at multiple positions at Ohio State’s June prospect camps, let alone earn an offer from the Buckeyes at both positions. 2027 Harper Woods (Mich.) athlete Dakota Guerrant pulled it off this summer, however.
Guerrant worked out for cornerbacks coach Tim Walton then went and worked out for wide receivers coach Brian Hartline. Both Ohio State assistants saw enough to offer the 6-foot-1 and 175-pound Guerrant.
“I mean, it was great because going in I was being looked at as a DB but when I got there I worked out as DB and then I worked out as a receiver,” Guerrant told Lettermen Row. “Coach Hartline ended up liking me. Just being able to get personal workouts with the coaches watch you the whole time that was great. And then Coach Hartline actually liking me and offering me when I really went there to play DB was even better.”
Defensive backs assistant Gerren DuHart invited Guerrant to camp at Ohio State and the two have built a close relationship. Guerrant enjoyed getting coached by DuHart and Tim Walton at camp.
“Coach DuHart, he talks to me all the time. When I was there, we had some great talks. Coach Walton, I feel like he keeps a real, real like he doesn’t sugarcoat it. I felt like his coaching was great and I liked how he coached.”
Guerrant thinks highly of what Brian Hartline has done with the wide receiver room at Ohio State.
“They are receiver U. They have a lot of great receivers coming into the program and going into the NFL as first round draft picks. So going there you know will be looked at to be one of the top picks in the draft.”
Guerrant is one of the top 2027 prospects in the state of Michigan and his cousin, Jacob Oden, is a freshman defensive back at Michigan. The Wolverines along with Kentucky, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Penn State and several others have offered him.
