Offensive lineman Antoni Ogumoro details Tennessee official visit

Oklahoma offensive lineman Antoni Ogumoro has been on campus the last couple of days. He visited with Volquest on Sunday morning to discuss his time at Tennessee.

“I enjoyed everything really,” Ogumoro said. “We started off on Friday going through meetings and meeting the guys and stuff. They have really showed me what their program is all about. How their offense runs and how I would fit into the offense. I also met with some of the guys here too and they are really good guys.”

So how would he fit into the Josh Heupel offensive attack on the offensive line?

“It’s like a fast paced offense but they run a lot of counter too,” Ogumoro said. “Coach Elarbee was explaining it to me how the run their offense. It translates to the league. Say you enter the NFL draft and get drafted, you go on a team and it’s on you. Everything is the same and everything translates. It’s setting up everyone for success.”

He spent much of his visit with offensive line coach Glen Elarbee, who he has a strong bond with.

“He is a chill guy,” Ogumoro said. “Our vibes kind of match each other. Ever since we started talking last year he had a lot of things in common with me. He is a good coach too. I’ve watched the videos of spring practice on YouTube and it’s nothing really yelling. It’s just straight to it on how to fix it.”

He and his whole family loved their time with Heupel and the vibe he got from the top Vol.

“He is a cool dude,” Ogumoro said. “He has swag to him. I feel like he can really relate to his players too. He isn’t just one of those guys that’s just a coach. He has been through this and been through everything. He knows what we are going through as a recruit and a player in general. He knows what we need to expect as players and can click with you quick. He is just a cool guy.”

Ogumoro will visit Kansas State and Missouri the next couple of weeks before announcing on May 21st. He knows a decision is looming but is he fully ready?

“I feel ready,” Ogumoro said. “I’m good. I pray every day just asking for guidance and keeping the right people in my circle. I ask my mom and dad every day if I’m making the right decisions or should I do this instead? They are my biggest examples, biggest leaders in life so I look up to them for guidance. Just make sure I’m making the right decision.”

So what is he looking for? 

“Just mainly how I fit into a school,” Ogumoro said. “Do I see myself not only the football side of it but you are a student too. Do I feel like I can go to school here for the next three or four years or I don’t see myself going here or feel comfortable.”

With Oklahoma, North Carolina and others joining the Vols in the mix. The question for Tennessee has to be, does he see himself in Knoxville and feel comfortable with Rocky Top?

“Most definitely I can,” Ogumoro said. “These guys have been keeping it real and I can definitely see myself here.”
