Numerous priority targets expected for Gators’ Orange and Blue Game

The stars will be out on Saturday, as the Gators are returning to the Swamp for the annual Orange and Blue Game. That includes recruits and former players.

One of the headliners on the prep side is 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham of Ackerman (Miss.) Choctaw County. The Gators have strong competition, including the in-state schools, Alabama and FSU, but Cunningham has been to Gainesville several times already. Saturday is the chance to build on that.

Another prospect we will be monitoring is 4-star offensive tackle Ziyare Addison of Riverview (Fla.) Sumner. That is due to his stellar experience in Gainesville on Thursday. He has been scheduled to attend Saturday’s game, but getting him on campus two days prior and making a huge impression is significant.

Addison, who says the Gators are rising in his recruitment, also scheduled an official visit for May 31. Florida has some momentum here. Other schools in the mix include Florida State, Oregon, UCLA and Penn State, with the Seminoles trending in the RPM.

Joining Addison on the list of in-state visitors is 4-star Miami Central wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery; in fact, the Gators could be out front right now.

Florida telling Montgomery it wants him to be the face of the wide receivers class has made an impact. That was echoed during a recent visit. And going off last check, Florida and Penn State are the lone programs with a scheduled official visit. The Gators are the hot program here.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, Florida is trending heavily for Fleming Island (Fla.) High defensive back Kaylib Singleton. That is due to his several trips to Gainesville along with a prediction from Gators Online.

Singleton has said he’s going to take his time and get out on the road; however, if today was decision day, myself and plenty others would be rolling with UF.

The familiarity with the program and feeling like a priority for Billy Napier and secondary Will Harris are making a difference. The Gators love Singleton’s versatility and are primarily recruiting him for safety.

A few targets from Texas worth mentioning are former Texas linebacker commit Anthony Williams and Baylor wide receiver commit Ashton Jones.

Williams recently reopened his recruitment and speaks with outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson quite often. As for Jones, a 6-foot-4 pass catcher, he speaks with wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales several times a week and has a relationship with DJ Lagway. They previously worked out together too.

For both Williams and Jones, Saturday will mark their first experience in Gainesville.
