Nuggets: Inside the Kansas State basketball schedule

Kansas State schedule is finished
As we reported not long ago, Kansas State was one non-conference game short of completing their upcoming basketball schedule. Sources have told KSO that it has been finalized and a press release should be happening in the near future.
While the Wildcats were hopeful to have another quality opponent on the docket, it did not materialize.
Instead, K-State opted for another “buy game” to fill the last spot on the slate. However, those with knowledge did share that the “buy games” in Bramlage Coliseum are even expected to be more challenging.
Want more high-profile games in Bramlage Coliseum
Speaking of Bramlage Coliseum, just as head coach Jerome Tang has publicly shared multiple times since being hired in Manhattan, the Kansas State basketball operation is adamant about scheduling better opponents in non-conference play on the home court.
That has played out since their arrival. Via home-and-home arrangements, K-State will host both LSU and Cal in non-conference action during the 2024-2025 season. Obviously, more games will fill up and be finalized for that particular year as well.
For the 2023-2024 season, Kansas State will host both Villanova and Nebraska. They’d enjoy having even more and more high-profile games in Bramlage Coliseum. However, the non-conference slate as a whole is a bit more difficult this year when considering the Wildcats will also play Providence, one of Miami or Georgia, Wichita State, LSU and USC.
A K-State opponent that was discussed
The contest between K-State and USC is slated for opening night in Las Vegas. But that was not the only big game that the Wildcats were discussing having on the basketball calendar. They had conversations with Duke about a potential scheduling agreement.
Kansas State was hoping for a home-and-home bout with the Blue Devils, just as they have already configured with LSU. However, we are told that Duke was only willing to play at Cameron Indoor Stadium and have the other meeting in Kansas City. They wouldn’t agree to play in Manhattan.
Having just one game between the two schools was also discussed, but the Blue Devils were insistent on it being played in Greensboro. Thus, the two sides couldn’t find an arrangement that satisfied both parties.
