Notre Dame visit ‘exceeds expectations’ of four-star WR Jayvan Boggs
Notre Dame only had one class of 2025 target on campus Saturday for its annual Blue-Gold Game, and it was a big one. Cocoa (Fla.) High wide receiver Jayvan Boggs got up to South Bend for the first time.
The four-star prospect is one of Notre Dame’s top overall targets in the 2025 cycle. The Irish offered Boggs at the end of February while he was still committed to the Buckeyes, a pledge that he has since backed off of. Notre Dame has been in hot pursuit of the 6-0, 200-pounder for the last several weeks and was able to host him over the weekend.
“It was great,” Boggs told Blue & Gold. “It was beyond my expectations. It was a great visit, and I had awesome conversations with the coaches. I could only stay at the spring game for a half because I had to hit the road, but overall, it was a great, amazing visit.”
Boggs’ time in South Bend was like an official visit, as he got to spend two days on campus. Saturday was more focused on the Blue-Gold Game festivities, while Friday was more of a typical day.
“It was like a regular visit — sitting in on the team meetings, watched practice, campus and facility tour and met with Coach [Marcus] Freeman, Coach [Mike] Denbrock and Coach [Mike] Brown,” Boggs noted.
That trio of coaches made a clear pitch to Boggs.
“Come in and make an impact early,” he said. “They want me to play at one of the best schools for football and education as a whole. It’s way above good in both football and education.
“Coach Denbrock was telling me that I’m a need for them at the receiver position and that I can make an impact Day 1 there.”
Notre Dame established itself as a top contender in Boggs’ recruitment following the trip. They’re among his top options.
“For sure, they’re definitely at the top of my list,” he said. “Notre Dame is a great place. I loved my visit; it exceeded my expectations to the highest.”
Next up for Boggs’ recruitment is taking official visits, and he has four scheduled: UCF May 31, USC June 7, Georgia June 14 and Missouri June 21.
Notre Dame and Boggs are looking to set up an official visit date, but he already has every weekend locked in. So, for him to take a June OV with the Fighting Irish, he’ll either need to switch up his schedule or plan a midweek trip in South Bend.
“We talked about it, and we’re going to make something happen,” Boggs said. “And I could get back up there before officials start.”
According to the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, Boggs is the No. 211 overall prospect and No. 26 wide receiver in America, plus the No. 33 player from his home state of Florida.
