Notre Dame verbal commit announces he’s visiting for first time since making pledge

For the first time since announcing his surprise Fighting Irish commitment, Davion Dixon has plans to return to South Bend. The 2025 three-star defensive lineman will return to Notre Dame on an unofficial visit on July 30 for the program’s “grill and chill” recruiting event, he told Blue & Gold on Tuesday evening. 

It will be the Miami Palmetto product’s first Notre Dame visit since pledging to the program on April 21. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Dixon visited for the Blue-Gold Game. 

Dixon’s verbal commitment to the Fighting Irish hasn’t prevented other programs from making a push. Since announcing his intentions to play for the Irish, Ohio State, Georgia, UCF, Maryland, Boston College, Western Michigan and Western Kentucky have all offered him scholarships. 

The On3 Industry Ranking — a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services — evaluates Dixon as the No. 354 overall player, No. 36 defensive lineman and No. 53 prospect in Florida. He has an 88.28 rating. 

In On3’s own rankings, Dixon is the No. 35 defensive lineman and No. 42 prospect in Florida. On3 gave him an 89 rating.

Dixon’s On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $16,100.
