Notre Dame moves up to No. 10 in On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings

Marcus Freeman’s staff has been busy on the recruiting trail in the 2024 cycle. The Fighting Irish have already added 22 prospects to its class with still five months to go before the early signing period. With the latest commitment of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, the Irish moved up two spots to No. 10 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
“I have a relationship with the whole defensive coaching staff. Even coach Freeman,” Viliamu-Asa told On3. “This was important in developing a relationship with people I could potentially be playing for the next four years, to know I’ll be in good hands and cared for beyond just being a football player. The genuineness of the whole staff really stood out.
“Coach Freeman is great. He’s a players’ coach and brings the energy for sure. He cares about his players and wants the best for them on and off the field. He’s definitely headed in the right direction with the program.”
Viliamu-Asa said that with Notre Dame, he does not have to “compromise” between academics and athletics, and that Notre Dame will set him up for life regardless of what he does in football.
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Viliamu-Asa is the No. 109 overall prospect and No. 8 linebacker in the 2024 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 13 player in California.
Viliamu-Asa propels Notre Dame into top 10
It is already an impressive class for Notre Dame, whose 22-recruit group ranks No. 10 nationally in the 2024 cycle. The Irish sit just barely behind Tennessee, who has 18 commits. Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South four-star wide receiver Cam Williams ranks No. 36 nationally and is a borderline five-star.
Saline (Mich.) top-50 quarterback CJ Carr is the country’s No. 5 signal-caller, and Viliamu-Asa rounds out Notre Dame’s three top-150 commits. Thirteen of Notre Dame’s 22 pledges are four-star prospects, with the vast majority coming from outside the state of Indiana.
The Irish also finished with the No. 10 class in the 2023 cycle and are looking for their third consecutive top-10 recruiting class.
