Notre Dame coaches on the road: Mike Brown making intriguing visits in California

Notre Dame coaches on the road: Mike Brown making intriguing visits in California

Notre Dame won’t have its full allotment of assistant coaches on the road Friday, as the staff is expected to be on the trail in full force next week. A few coaches are headed home from Wednesday and Thursday travels, while some others stay out for one more day.

Here is where the Fighting Irish staff is expected to be on Friday, according to Blue & Gold sources:

— Notre Dame quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli leads the Irish’s area recruiting efforts in Chicago. He saw a couple young quarterbacks in the area Thursday and that’s where he remains Friday.

— Irish wide receivers coach Mike Brown was in Las Vegas yesterday to see top 2025 target Derek Meadows, and for today, he’s expected out in the Golden State to check in on top 2026 prospects.

The Irish were unable to land 2024 wide receiver Emmett Mosley — a double Notre Dame legacy — but the staff has an offer out to his younger brother, and Brown is expected to see 2026 recruit Trent Mosley out of Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.) Catholic. Mosley added an offer from the Irish him way back in June 2022.

Brown will continue to make the rounds at top high schools in Southern California to see notable prospects. He’ll get a look at the nation’s No. 1 “athlete” in the 2026 class — Brandon Arrington out of La Mesa (Calif.) Mount Miguel. Arrington was a Pot of Gold offer for the staff.

The Irish offered Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco’s Madden Williams, the No. 282 overall prospect and No. 24 “athlete” per the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking, last May. Brown is expected to drop by the high school that produced Irish freshman Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa today.

Los Alamitos (Calif.) High’s Ja’Myron Baker, a USC commit who ranks as the nation’s No. 331 overall prospect in the 2026 class, has yet to announce an offer from the Fighting Irish, but it would come as little surprise if he did following Brown’s expected visit to his school Friday.

— Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph is expected to drop in at Davison (Mich.) High, home of Ben Nichols, the nation’s No. 254 overall prospect and No. 18 interior lineman per he 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. Nichols added an offer from the Irish staff last month for Pot of Gold day, and Blue & Gold considers him a Notre Dame lean.

— We’re told that cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens will be out in Phoenix to stop by Brophy Prep to meet with Irish commit Cree Thomas, the No. 386 overall recruit and No. 35 cornerback nationally per the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. The four-star prospect is rock solid with his Notre Dame pledge that he gave last fall.

— Here’s an interesting one — Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock brought Trent Miles — an analyst who formerly served as Indiana State’s and Georgia State’s head coach — with him from LSU. And it’s Blue & Gold’s understanding that Miles will be on the road Friday and make the rounds in the Atlanta area.

— Notre Dame director of player personnel Chad Bowden is expected to be in Dallas Friday.
