Not who, but WHEN will Texas A&M gain their next commitment?

Not who, but WHEN will Texas A&M gain their next commitment?

Texas A&M has only picked up one commitment since the calendar turned to 2023 and that was Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove quarterback Anthony Maddox, who pledged on Feb. 6. The most recent before that was early December, meaning the Aggies have picked up only one commitment in the past four months.

There are four commits in the current 2024 class for Texas A&M and we know that number will grow, but when?

There are a handful of recruits committing this week, but the Aggies are on the outside looking in for those recruitments. That includes 2024 Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes quarterback Air Noland, who commits in just two days on April 8.

So when does Texas A&M add some names to the class?

Based on the past three cycles for Texas A&M, the month of April should see a commit join the class. In the 2023 class, they added two. In both 2022 and 2021, it was one commitment. These developments likely come in line with spring ball and the visits that come with.

I believe the next three weeks, we will some developments, especially with the April 15 spring game.

The spring game will bring a number of visitors, many of whom have visited in recent weeks as well. Concurrent visits to one school are often a good sign of good things to come. If the Aggies can host some successful visits, I think the spring game will produce a commitment.

That does not mean it will come on April 15. It could come a few days or maybe a week after, but it would still be tied to the spring game visits.

Beyond April, what to expect…

There will many summer official visitors between May and July, which often times leads to commitments. But Texas A&M has found a knack at landing tons of commitments in the later part of the cycle, which looks like it could happen again this cycle.

There appears to be some intent to it as it happens often for the Aggies, but it doesn’t make it any less worrisome for fans throughout the year. There is no reason to worry about Texas A&M in the early stages of this recruiting cycle.

The Aggies are still dealing with some of the effects of a disappointing season, but if the program is back to prominence in 2023, that itself should lead to a flurry in recruiting.
