Northeast lineman camps with Gamecocks, leaves with offer

Michael Carroll made the trip down south to Columbia on Monday to camp with the Gamecocks coaching staff in hopes of earning an offer.

After a strong performance in front of USC assistant Lonnie Teasley, the Glenside (Pennsylvania) La Salle product earned the scholarship.

“It meant so much to me,” Carroll told GamecockCentral.com. “Because it was my first (SEC) offer and I had to work so hard to earn it at camp.”

It was the 2025 prospect’s first face-to-face contact with Teasley and veteran Greg Adkins, who remains on Shane Beamer’s staff as an analyst.

Whether it was observing interactions between Gamecocks players who were helping at camp with the staff, or the one-on-one coaching he got, it was all positive for Carroll.

“It was really good, I learned a lot from them and got a feel for how they coach and treat their players. I loved it,” he said.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pounder also had a chance to traverse the campus and learn more about the USC program.

“I saw the facilities and went on a campus tour,” he said. “What I liked when I was viewing all of these facilities was the culture that South Carolina has. Almost felt like home.”

Carroll’s other summer trips include a trip to Michigan State this week, then a look at Penn State this summer.

His father, Mike, played linebacker for the Nittany Lions in college.

Other programs to have extended offers from Carroll include Rutgers and Temple, with interest from Penn State, Virginia Tech, Boston College, and Maryland.

As he continues though the process, Carroll has honed in on a few aspects he hopes to find in a program.

“A place where I can play somewhat early, a place my family likes, and if any NIL money can possibly be offered,” he said.
