North Carolina transfer EDGE Beau Atkinson will visit Georgia

Georgia enters the April transfer portal window with a major need at EDGE. The Bulldogs will play host to one of the best prospects at that position soon. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports that North Carolina’s Beau Atkinson will visit both UGA and Ohio State.
Atkinson is a native of the Tar Heel State and entered the transfer portal on Monday. The window is open for the next nine days but he doesn’t have to make his decision in that time frame.
As a sophomore at North Carolina, Atkinson racked up 35 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. He also had a handful of quarterback hurries according to CFBstats.com. As a freshman Atkinson racked up 19 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. He has played in 26 games over the past two seasons.
As a prospect Atkinson finished the 2023 cycle with a four-star rating per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He was the No. 355 overall prospect in America. He was also the No. 34 EDGE and No. 12 player in North Carolina.
Atkinson could fill a major need for the Bulldogs. Georgia was hit hard by the NFL Draft at the EDGE position. Jalon Walker is likely a first round pick and Mykel Williams will be a top 50 overall pick in 2025. He could also go in the first round. The Bulldogs also lost Damon Wilson to the transfer portal. After flirting with Ohio State, he ended up at Missouri. Samuel M’Pemba also left the program and signed with Texas A&M.
Georgia currently has Gabe Harris at EDGE, a junior who has served as a role player the past two seasons. It also has Quintavius Johnson, a sophomore who made a lot of noise in preseason camp last season. The Bulldogs also inked three of the nation’s top 10 EDGE prospects in the 2025 class.
