‘Noles QB commit Tramell Jones enjoys Swamp experienc, praises QB play

Tramell Jones, a 2025 Florida State quarterback commit from Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin High, attended his first night game at The Swamp on Saturday — and the experience did not disappoint.

“I mean, it was a great atmosphere,” Jones told Gators Online. “I’ve never been to a game at night there — it’s something I wanted to experience. All the fans were great. It got very loud at one moment in the game. It was crazy to me, with all the lights.”

Jones, a 3-star prospect, committed to Florida State in April but that hasn’t stopped Florida from continuing to recruit him. He said he hears from Gators coach Billy Napier and offensive analyst Ryan O’Hara, who coaches the Florida quarterbacks, weekly.

Saturday, he talked at length with O’Hara.

“Coach O’Hara loved to see me there, even though I’m committed to FSU,” Jones said. “He wants to get me back on campus and he loved me showing them love also; he knows my situation. Just keeping that relationship going and keep communicating is a great thing.”

UF’s quarterback impressed Tramell Jones on Saturday

During Florida’s 29-16 win over No. 11 Tennessee, Jones closely watched Gators quarterback Graham Mertz — and what the coaches had him doing.

“They were getting him on the move and rolling him out a lot, which I like to see, considering how he’s a pocket guy,” Jones said. “He played his game. And he managed the game great, which I like to see; he didn’t do anything extra. He was just trying to win the game.”

According to Jones, Florida, Kentucky and Pitt are probably the three main schools still recruiting him.

But, he noted, “I’m still locked in” with Florida State.

Meanwhile, Jones said he plans to keep watching the Gators.

“I want to keep seeing them play,” Jones said. “I know Tennessee is a great football program and that’s a big win for them. But I want to see how they play a little bit more this season.”

Jones is making plans to return to The Swamp.

“I’m definitely going back, when they play FSU (in November),” he said.
