No. 1 WR Ryan Williams, an Alabama commit, to visit Florida Gators

BRADENTON, FL. — It’s no secret that five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams is fully locked in with the Crimson Tide. He announced his commitment last October and said not a thing has changed when speaking at Friday’s Future 50 Media Day at IMG Academy.
However, the No. 1-ranked wide receiver is still going to make use of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. That includes speaking with additional programs and journeying out to other campuses as well.
One of those schools hoping to work some magic is the University of Florida, which is one of Williams’ most-recent offers. That SEC opportunity was delivered to him on May 11.
And although the Gators just recently pulled the trigger, the Saraland (Ala.) star is familiar with Billy Napier’s staff dating back to their time at Louisiana.
“Actually, (communication) was on and off, but I started to build a strong relationship with them, especially (defensive coordinator) coach (Austin) Armstrong and (running backs) coach (Jabbar) Juluke,” Williams told Gators Online.
“I’ve been talking to them ever since the beginning of my recruiting process, and it just so happens that they are at Florida now. I’ve been talking to them.”
When taking a step back and dissecting UF’s program, what soaks up Williams’ attention the most?
“Definitely the guys they produce,” Williams replied. “They produce NFL talent and longevity. Once they go to the NFL, they play for a while. They’re going to play hard.”
If all goes as planned, the All-American pass catcher will be getting his first taste of the Swamp on July 29. That will be for the Grill at the Ville cookout, a talent-loaded, invite-only recruiting event.
“Yeah, I think I’m going to be there,” said Williams.
Scouting Report on Ryan Williams
The most productive and athletic wide receiver in high school football as a sophomore.
Williams turned in an utterly dominant season in 2022. Measured around 6-foot, 160 pounds in the spring following his sophomore season. One of the fastest wideouts in the nation, regardless of class. Posted a scintillating 10.49 second 100-meter time early on in his sophomore track season. A legitimate state title contender in four track events – the 100, 200, 400 meters and high jump.
Williams shows the ability to harness his elite speed on the football field. A big-time deep threat who easily runs past defensive backs. Has high-end change of direction and breaks off cornerbacks with agility within his routes. Williams caught 88 passes for 1,641 yards and 24 touchdowns, ran for 700 yards and 15 touchdowns on 57 rushes (12.3 yards per carry), returned two punts for touchdowns and passed for a score while leading his high school to a state title as a sophomore.
Williams named Alabama’s Gatorade Player of the Year following the historic season. Was the On3 MVP at Under Armour’s Atlanta camp prior to his junior season. Looks like one of the top pass-catchers in high school football regardless of class and is the top wide receiver prospect from Alabama since Henry Ruggs III. Williams will need to continue adding strength and mass to his slender frame.
