No. 1 OT Brandon Baker visits Georgia
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker is visiting numerous schools over the next couple of weeks. One of them is Georgia.
Baker is spending today seeing the Bulldogs. He will then travel to Texas on April 14-15, Nebraska on April 22 and Oregon on April 29.
The 6-foot-4.5, 285-pound recruit saw the Cornhuskers, Miami and Ohio State in March, as well as Tennessee on March 31 and Michigan on April 7-8. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Ducks have a commanding lead for Baker’s commitment at 80.0%.
“The visits for me are always crucial,” Baker told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 31. “I get a feeling for the school and overall environment. From there, I look at the full experience as I look to cut down my list after the spring. The visits over spring break should be my last round of visits before I start to narrow things down. I should get down to my top 10 or 11 schools soon.”
Baker is the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in California.
Georgia’s 2024 recruiting class is currently No. 1 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. It contains one offensive tackle in Cartersville (Ga.) three-star Malachi Toliver.

Baker discusses some of his schools of interest
Baker broke down his interest in multiple schools when speaking with Simmons last month.
Colorado: “Everything is as advertised around coach Prime (Deion Sanders). He is building a foundation at Colorado. It was a little surprising to see. I was just checking things out, but coach Prime is building something.”
Miami: “I love how hands-on coach Mario Cristobal is with the offensive line. That is his former position, but he is the head coach, and I didn’t expect that. He was right there during spring practice with the offensive linemen and very involved. That stood out to me. Miami has about four offensive line coaches involved and that is really impressive to see.”
Nebraska: “My visit to Nebraska really surprised me in a good way… It was kind of a shock to me… I will be back for the spring game and they have a chance to get an official visit. The environment around the staff was great. They really gel well together and coach Matt Rhule is doing something really good down there.”
Ohio State: “I had high expectations for Ohio State and they met those. I love coach (Justin) Frye coaches. He just clicks with me and I love how passionate he is about the sport. He loves his job and I loved what I saw in him. Getting to go over drills with him, seeing how it translates to the games stood out to me.”
Oregon: “At Oregon, coach Dan Lanning is bringing it. There is a new energy with the team and I like that a lot. With coach Adrian Klemm gone to the NFL, they are transitioning to a new offensive line coach, so that is something I am getting used to.”
USC: “USC has a strong staff. Every time I am down there, coach Lincoln Riley does a great job. I feel comfortable there and the staff at USC knows me well.”
