No. 1 OT Brandon Baker visiting Oregon
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker is spending this weekend at Oregon. He is back in Eugene for the second time in less than a month.
The 6-foot-4.5, 285-pound recruit is seeing the Ducks with four-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland, his high school teammate. Breland recently included Oregon as one of his top 10 schools.
Baker is the No. 26 overall prospect and No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in California.
“At Oregon, coach Dan Lanning is bringing it,” Baker told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 31. “There is a new energy with the team and I like that a lot. With coach Adrian Klemm gone to the NFL, they are transitioning to a new offensive line coach, so that is something I am getting used to.”
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Oregon is leading for Baker at 76.9%. He made multiple game day visits to the Pacific Northwest this fall.
“I think it’s really electrifying,” Baker told Simmons on Jan. 20 about Oregon. “I think they’re definitely building something special down there. Coach Lanning, he’s a tremendous person, but not only that, a great coach. Young, like I said, electrifying. He definitely knows what he wants.”
“I can definitely see me playing down there, especially with Josh (Conerly Jr.),” he added. “… They basically just got the No. 1 offensive tackle, so definitely something that could be building down there.”

Baker discusses other schools of interest
Baker is being pursued by some of the top programs in college football. He currently has official visits set to Ohio State (June 9) and Georgia (June 23).
The four-star broke down his interest in multiple contenders this spring.
Colorado: “Everything is as advertised around coach Prime (Deion Sanders). He is building a foundation at Colorado. It was a little surprising to see. I was just checking things out, but coach Prime is building something.”
Miami: “I love how hands-on coach Mario Cristobal is with the offensive line. That is his former position, but he is the head coach, and I didn’t expect that. He was right there during spring practice with the offensive linemen and very involved. That stood out to me. Miami has about four offensive line coaches involved and that is really impressive to see.”
Nebraska: “My visit to Nebraska really surprised me in a good way… It was kind of a shock to me… I will be back for the spring game and they have a chance to get an official visit. The environment around the staff was great. They really gel well together and coach Matt Rhule is doing something really good down there.”
Ohio State: “I had high expectations for Ohio State and they met those. I love coach (Justin) Frye coaches. He just clicks with me and I love how passionate he is about the sport. He loves his job and I loved what I saw in him. Getting to go over drills with him, seeing how it translates to the games stood out to me.”
USC: “USC has a strong staff. Every time I am down there, coach Lincoln Riley does a great job. I feel comfortable there and the staff at USC knows me well.”
