Nightly Recruiting Briefing: Social media reacts to Justin Denson picking Michigan State

Justin Denson commits

Michigan State landed a commitment from three-star defensive back Justin Denson on July 4. The three-star announced his commitment via social media. Denson committed to the Spartans over his other final four contending schools in Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas A&M. He took an official visit to East Lansing on June 23, his last official visit before committing.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back out of Providence (RI) is ranked a three-star, the No. 652 overall recruit. Denson is also ranked the No. 67 overall safety, and the No. 1 recruit in Rhode Island by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. He becomes the fifth defensive back commitment in the Spartan 2024 class, joining three-star cornerbacks Jaylen Thompson, of Murfreesboro (TN) Riverdale, and Camren Campbell of Tampa Bay (FL) Tech. Michigan State also holds commitments from four-star safety/nickel prospect Reggie Powers of Dayton (OH) Centerville and three-star safety Syair Torrence of Syracuse (NY).
