Nightly Recruiting Briefing: Quick Michigan State recruiting notes

In tonight’s Nightly Recruiting Briefing we will discuss the latest Michigan State recruiting notes. We will also tale a look at recent stories from SpartanMag.com.
Kris Jones with August decision
Michigan State four-star linebacker target Kris Jones tells SpartanMag.com he will make his final decision between Georgia, Florida, and Michigan State in August. Jones also tells SpartanMag.com he will not take any visits at the end of July.
“I’m done with visits just going to make my decision then lock in for the season,” Jones said. ”I don’t have a specific date but it will be sometime in August.”
Jones squeezed an official visit to Michigan State on June 17, inbetween trips to Georgia and Florida. In East Lansing, Jones was hosted by freshman linebacker Jordan Hall originally of Fredericksburg (VA). The four-star, Jones, is from Fairfax (VA) playing in the same little league organization growing up.
It is likely Jones ends up in Gainesville or Athens but the connection at Michigan State put the Spartans on the map. He is ranked the No. 128 overall recruit, the No. 12 linebacker, and the No. 2 recruit in Virginia by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.
Georgia holds a commanding lead on the Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) with an 89.1% chance to land in Athens. Florida holds a 2.4% chance, but I feel the Gators are giving Georgia a run in this one.
Pennsylvania TE in touch with Spartans
Michigan State has also been briefly in touch with 2024 tight end Zach Zandier, who tells SpartanMag.com he has had brief conversation with Spartan director of player personnel Sean Levy. The Spartans look to expand their board with top target Eric Karner of Itasca (IL) committing to Texas A&M in June. Michigan State also hosted three-star Decker DeGraaf, who committed to Washington in June.
The 6-foot-5, 230-pound tight end, of Reading (PA) Exeter Township is currently committed to Coastal Carolina. Zandier could be a name to monitor going forward as Michigan State tight ends coach Ted Gilmore continues to expand the tight end board.
