Nightly Recruiting Briefing: Michigan State offers 2025 LB

In tonight’s Nightly Recruiting Briefing we will discuss the latest Michigan State offer in the 2025 class. We will also discuss other Spartan social media.

New 2025 LB offer

Michigan State and defensive assistant Chris Gordon extended a class of 2025 offer to linebacker Marco Jones of Danville (CA) San Ramon Valley on Aug. 19. Jones currently ranks a four-star, the No. 208 overall recruit. He also ranks the No. 19 linebacker, and the No. 20 recruit in California by the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder also holds offers from Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas, Notre Dame, Michigan, and more. Jones took unofficial visits to Alabama, Texas, Oregon, and Tennessee this summer. The four-star also lines up on offense as a tight end. Jones also plays baseball for San Ramon Valley as well.

Jones had been talking to Gordon for a couple weeks. He will look to schedule a fall unofficial visit to East Lansing.

“From the conversations we have had I really like Coach Gordon and what he has said about Michigan State and hopefully I can get up there in the future,” Jones told SpartanMag.com. “He has just been telling me that they like me and my personality and play style fits really well at Michigan State.”

Michigan State recently offered four-star linebacker Brett Clatterbaugh of Culpepper (VA). The four-star currently has fall unofficial visits setup to Notre Dame, Georgia, and Virginia Tech for this fall. Michigan State will look to join the list securing a visit of their own.

Defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Scottie Hazelton has also been in close contact with 2025 four-star Christian Jones, of Omaha (NE). Michigan State has also played host to three-star Kelan Butler of Jefferson (GA) earlier this summer. The Spartans also welcomed Germantown (WI) LB Cooper Catalano for an unofficial visit at the end of July.
