Nightly Recruiting Briefing: Michigan State commits focused on adding to class

In tonight’s Nightly Recruiting Briefing we will discuss the latest Michigan State targets and their pursuit to add to the class. We will also discuss other Spartan recruiting news.
Nick Marsh recruiting David Stone
The newest member of the Spartan 2024 class, Nick Marsh of River Rouge (MI), and his mother wasted little time recruiting new members of the class. His mother posted a picture on Twitter of five-star David Stone, of IMG Academy in Bradenton (FL), recruiting Stone to East Lansing. Marsh’s mother posted a picture of Stone from his June 23 official visit to Michigan State, telling Stone to ‘come on home’. Stone replied with a ’yes ma’am’.
Marsh and Stone spent time together in East Lansing on the June 23 official visit weekend. The newest Michigan State commit in 6-foot-3 wide receiver, Marsh ranks the No. 120 overall recruit, the No. 21 wide receiver, and the No. 3 recruit in Michigan by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings. If Stone were to join the fold, he would join Marsh at the top of the list in terms of rankings, also becoming the highest ranked commit of the Mel Tucker era. Stone is ranked a five-star, the No. 12 overall recruit. He is also ranked the No. 3 defensive lineman, and the No. 3 recruit in Florida by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.
When speaking to media on July 7 after his commitment ceremony, Marsh told SpartanMag.com he hadn’t fully set his own recruiting board but will refer to the other commits in the class on finding targets.
“Justin (Denson), Henry (Hasselbeck) and a couple other guys,” Marsh said. “I am pretty communicative with those guys. So far I am not too sure who else is open (to Michigan State), so I’ll be communicating with those guys to see who else we can get.”
Andrew Dennis celebrates Marsh, looking ahead
SpartanMag.com also spoke with three-star offensive line commitment Andrew Dennis of Mount Pleasant (MI), who celebrated the commitment of Marsh.
“I told everyone to relax,” Dennis said. ”Our class is solid. Let us fill it up and it will be top 25. We have a lot of underrated guys that deserve (rating) bumps .”
“I trust what our coaches are doing,” Dennis said. ”They evaluate the right way.”
Dennis also told SpartanMag.com that he is not done with his job recruiting the class. He has his eyes on quite a few remaining Michigan State targets.
“Collectively we are going after Stoney (David Stone), Kwazi (Gilmer), Kamar (Mothudi), Deandre (Carter), and Jason (Brown). They would be key additions to an already impressive class..”
Jason’s take:
Some of the best recruiting can come from peers in the class themselves. The Michigan State class and commitments flexed their muscles in June, with each member creating and continuing the momentum for the Spartans. Dennis has lead the way being one of the most vocal recruiters. Four-star running back Anthony Carrie told SpartanMag.com he had a phone call with three-star QB Henry Hasselbeck just days before his commitment.
Marsh also mentioned in the past the importance of playing with other elite players in his class. After committing he shouted out current DB commitment Justin Denson of Providence (RI), who committed to the Spartans on July 4.
Michigan State commitments developed many relationships while on official visits in East Lansing and beyond, as the current class continues to build on itself throughout summer.
