Nightly Recruiting Briefing: Michigan State commits and targets kick off week one
In tonight’s Nightly Recruiting Briefing we will discuss Michigan State targets and commitments and how they fared during week one of the high school football season. We will also discuss other minor recruiting and social media notes.
Spartan RB commit scores two on opening night
Michigan State four-star running back commitment, Anthony Carrie of Tampa (FL) Carrollwood Day High School, started off his senior season on a good note. Carrie logged two touchdowns in his schools victory over Rockledge (38-7).
Carrie posted one run to social media, showing his vision and breakaway speed.
St. Frances falls week one
Michigan State offensive line commitment Logan Bennett, of Baltimore (MD) plays for one of the nation’s top powerhouse high school programs in St. Frances Academy. Going into the 2023 season SFA was ranked the No. 6 team in the nation by MaxPreps.
Bennett and SFA play a national schedule, facing off against Buford (GA) High School in week one, losing 18-0.
CB commit shines in opener
Three-star Michigan State cornerback commitment Jaylen Thompson, of Murfreesboro (TN) Riverdale High School, began his season with a win. Riverdale faced off against Smyrna (TN) High School, winning 36-0.
Thompson scored a touchdown at wide receiver. He also caught an interception.
David Stone and IMG handle business
Michigan State five-star defensive tackle target David Stone and IMG Academy, of Bradenton (FL), kicked off their season with a 35-0 victory over Nashville (TN) Lipscomb Academy. Stone and IMG advance to 1-0 after the road victory.
Reggie Powers does his thing
Dayton (OH) Centerville High School won their first game, as four-star safety Reggie Powers logged 8 tackles, a pass deflection, and a sack. Centerville defeated storied rival Lakota East 38-10.
