In tonight’s Nightly Recruiting Briefing we will discuss the latest Michigan State official buzz. We will talk a commitment and quarterback target and their reactions.
Initial official visit returns from Jaylen Thompson
Michigan State 2023 commitment Jaylen Thompson spent the weekend on campus for an official visit. Thompson committed to Michigan State over offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and more in December of 2022. Before the official, his most recent visit came to Michigan State for the spring game on April 15.
“It was amazing me and my family had a great time,” Thompson told SpartanMag.com.
Along with several uncommitted prospects, Thompson was joined by both other commits in the Spartan 2024 class, offensive lineman Logan Bennett and Andrew Dennis.
“It was great meeting them,” Thompson told SpartanMag.com. ”They all were very cool dudes them and their family.”
Thompson is ranked the No. 439 overall recruit, the No. 48 cornerback, and the No. 10 recruit in Tennessee by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.
Henry Hasselbeck weighs in
One of the uncommitted recruits on campus included quarterback target Henry Hasselbeck of Boston (MA). The son of former NFL veteran Matt Hasselbeck arrived on campus Friday afternoon for his first visit to Michigan State.
“East Lansing was super cool and I lot bigger than I expected,” Hasselbeck said. “I thought the campus and the downtown areas were awesome but my favorite part was hanging out with the players and the coaches. Noah Kim was my host and he couldn’t have been better. The recruits on my visit were cool too and they were from all over the country.”
SpartanMag.com will have more from Hasselbeck in the coming days. He will take official visits to Boston College (June 9), UAB (June 19), and Pittsburgh (June 22). His fathers alma mater, and hometown school Boston College will be a heavy factor, as Hasselbeck is also currently committed to Maryland to play lacrosse.
“I haven’t officially decided what sport I will play in college,” Hasselbeck told SpartanMag.com. ”I love being a three sport athlete in high school, but I I will only play one sport in college. If I play lacrosse in college it will 100% be at Maryland. Right now, I’m trying to figure out where I can be the best college quarterback I can be, if I decide to go that route.”
