In tonight’s Nightly Recruiting Briefing we will discuss the latest Michigan State transfer recruiting rumblings. We will also discuss a four-star offensive tackle on campus and more MSU social media.

Nebraska WR transfer on campus

Michigan State welcomed former class of 2020 Spartan wide receiver commitment Alante Brown to campus for a visit on April 18. Brown is currently in the transfer portal after spending three seasons in Nebraska with the Cornhuskers.

Brown hauled in 22 catches for 262 receiving yards. He also spent some time at kick returner the past few years, recording 16 returns for 284 yards.

In the 2020 cycle, Brown was rated as the No. 675 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also rated as the No. 115 wide receiver prospect in the class and a three-star prospect. Brown played his high school football at Simeon High School (Chicago, Illinois) and St. Thomas More Prep (Oakdale, Connecticut).

Marques Easley visit pictures

Michigan State welcomed a top target in 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive lineman Marques Easley for his second visit to East Lansing for the Spartan Football Kickoff spring game. The four-star made his first to Michigan State for the 2022 Indiana game.

Easley has taken visits to GeorgiaPurdueTennesseeFlorida StateOklahomaUSCMissouriTexas A&M, and Texas this spring. He tells SpartanMag.com he has three official visits scheduled to GeorgiaTennessee, and Oklahoma.

“I liked it a lot when I was down here already,” Easley said. “I just have been flying all over and I haven’t driven anywhere at all. I wanted get back on the road down the street one more time. I plan to be back there again this summer. They might get an official. I have two left.”

Before practice on April 15, Easley went through introductions and breakfast, then he sat down with Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker.

“When I got in I met everyone,” Easley said. “We had some breakfast. Then after the meeting we talked to Coach Tuck. That is who really surprised me. On my last visit I didn’t get the chance to talk to him. Coach Tuck is coming down to one of my favorite head coaches. I mess with Coach Tuck hard.”

Easley is ranked a four-star, the No. 239 overall recruit, the No. 18 offensive tackle, and the No. 5 recruit in Illinois by the 2024 On3 Industry Rankings.
