Newsstand: Notre Dame claims two five-star prospects in mock 2024 class re-rankings

Newsstand: Notre Dame claims two five-star prospects in mock 2024 class re-rankings

If On3 director of scouting and rankings Charles Power had to re-rank the 2024 recruiting class five-stars, the Notre Dame football program would have two of the 32, emulating the number of first-round NFL Draft picks.

On Thursday, Power did just that and featured Fighting Irish offensive linemen Anthonie Knapp and Guerby Lambert. The latter checked in at No. 20 in his updated mock rankings despite only playing snaps as a reserve this season.

“A high-upside offensive tackle who was a summer enrollee, Lambert has seen time in a few games as a true freshman,” Power said. “The former five-star will compete for a spot on Notre Dame’s talented offensive line next season.”

Power would consider Knapp the No. 24 player in the 2024 class. He has started every game at left tackle for the Irish this season.

“A former On3 blue-chip outlier, Knapp surprisingly won the starting left tackle job at Notre Dame, following an injury to Charles Jagusah in fall camp,” Power said. “Knapp has fared well while playing out of position at left tackle.”

Only Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Clemson and LSU had more players recognized than the Irish on Power’s list, with three each.

The Irish women’s basketball team is among the most talented, if not the most talented, team in the nation this season.

Notre Dame women’s basketball has 4 players on the Wooden Award preseason top 50 watch list. That’s the most of any team in the country.

Former Irish offensive lineman Zeke Correll is having an outstanding season at NC State.

NC State center Zeke Correll leads all power conference offensive linemen with 0 sacks allowed in 334 pass-blocking snaps.

Notre Dame Quote of the Day

“The thing I love about X the most is that he’s really improved at is his vocal communication. Like he’s a leader. He is a problem solver. He gets guys lined up. You see him all the time making checks, making calls, and that’s the area that I think he’s made the biggest jump, that is really being a problem solver on the field.”
