Newsstand: Michigan predicted to land Maryland QB transfer Billy Edwards Jr.

Minutes after Maryland quarterback transfer Billy Edwards Jr. entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong logged predictions for him to land at Michigan. He will visit Wisconsin and then see U-M early next week, but he’s favored to wind up in a winged helmet. The Wolverine’s EJ Holland logged a prediction for the same outcome later in the day.
Edwards began his career at Wake Forest (2021), before spending the last three years at Maryland (2022-24). This season, Edwards passed for 2,881 yards and 15 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He also added 150 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
On3’s Pete Nakos reported that Michigan will get Edwards in for a visit.
Michigan is one of 14 schools to have signed a five-star prospect in the early signing period.
Michigan junior tight end Colston Loveland has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced.

He is the third Michigan junior to declare, joining defensive tackle Mason Graham and cornerback Will Johnson. All three are considered potential first-round draft picks this spring.
Loveland set the program record for receptions by a tight end in Michigan history this season with 56 grabs for 582 yards and 5 touchdowns in 10 games played. The third-year pass catcher missed the USC and Ohio State games – both Michigan victories – due to injuries. He led the team in receiving in every game he played this season.
Loveland, who was a four-star recruit, No. 268 overall player and No. 13 tight end in the 2022 class, leaves as one of the best in his position in college football. Loveland recorded 117 catches for 1,466 yards and 11 touchdowns in his career, averaging 12.5 yards per reception.
Michigan junior quarterback Alex Orji entered the NCAA transfer portal. He started three games this season — against USC, Minnesota and Washington — and appeared in 20 throughout his three-year career. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
