Tweets Of The Day

Michigan has been short-handed in the secondary early on this season. However, it appears the Wolverines will get some reinforcements in the Big Ten opener against Rutgers Saturday, TheWolverine.com reported Friday afternoon and On3’s Matt Zenitz confirmed Friday night.

Moore has not seen game action this season, dealing with a lower body injury. He was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection last season, leading the defensive backfield with 71 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss with a half-sack and adding a team-high 4 interceptions.

Johnson missed Michigan’s opener but played 8 defensive snaps in the second game against UNLV. He warmed up the next week against Bowling Green but did not play. Johnson, a preseason second-team All-American per the Associated Press, started five games last season and played in all 14, registering 27 tackles, including 2 for loss, and 3 interceptions.

No. 2 Michigan is set to get back a couple key players on defense.

Quote Of The Day

“One of the things that I try to instill in our players, and we were like this in Baltimore [with the Ravens] … we’re going to have some 6 and 7-minute drives on offense, maybe even more so with the clock now,” Minter said. “The number one thing we can do is to get that other defense back on the field as fast as possible whether that’s getting the ball off them or getting a quick three and out. I know from a defensive perspective if we were just on a long drive and we’re trying to make adjustments, and then all of a sudden you’re right back up, sometimes you don’t get a chance to fix your problems. You’re tired. You want to get those guys right back out there as fast as possible. I think that’s our way of trying to play complementary with our offense. The clock rules probably factor into that, but I think our style of play probably factors into that as much as anything.”

— Michigan defensive coordinator Jesse Minter
