Newsstand: Michigan captain Max Bredeson announces return for 2025 season

Michigan senior fullback / tight end Max Bredeson, a finalist for the Low Man Trophy awarded to the nation’s top fullback, announced on Instagram that he’s returning to the Wolverines for the 2025 season. Bredeson is a captain who played a major role on the Wolverines’ offense in 2024 and over the last two seasons.

Bredeson, a captain, has been a significant part of U-M’s toughness and success in the running game the past few seasons and will fulfill that key role again in 2025.
“Stuff like this, definitely [makes you want to come back],” Bredeson said after a win over Alabama. “But we’ll see how that goes.”
He said he expected to have a decision within a week, and now he’s made it official. Culture has been key in the U-M resurgence and championship runs, and he’s been a huge part of it.
“Sometimes, it gets tested,” Bredeson said. “Sometimes, you really feel it kind of bending, and it goes right back to what it was. That’s how important culture is, and that’s when you really find out what it’s about.”
A former walk-on, Bredeson was named a finalist for the 2024 Burksworth Trophy, an award given to the most outstanding player who was originally a walk-on. He has 10 career receptions for 121 yards, but his contributions go far beyond the statistics.
One year ago Wednesday, Michigan won its 12th ever national championship with a 34-13 win over Washington in Houston, Texas.
Michigan’s 4-5 ball screen with junior Danny Wolf and graduate Vladislav Goldin has proven lethal and given headaches to opponents.
Five-star Michigan offensive line signee Andrew Babalola, an early enrollee, is impressing at the pre-All-American Bowl practices.
