Former Michigan guard Jett Howard, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft to the Orlando Magic, discussed departing U-M in a recent interview with Brian Boesch on Defend The Block.

“My last exit meeting, I cried,” Howard said. “I was boo-hooing, just because I wanted to win here. I got a chance to play with my brothers.

“It’s hard to turn down an opportunity for your dream. If it was wasn’t for that, I would definitely come back. It’s bittersweet, because I wanted to work out with them today — if I could. It’s bittersweet, just because of that and you feel like you have unfinished business here as a player.

“But for the most part, it’s good to see. I’m cool with a lot of the new people, like [forward] Olivier [Nkamhoua] and [guard] Nimari [Burnett] — pretty much all the freshmen. I think just seeing them all click together, it’s a good feeling.”

Quote Of The Day

“He’s one of a kind. He’s just real. There is nothing fake about him. It’s always genuine with him. Half of the time, it’s football. The other half is just life. We talk about fishing and going to the beach. It was pretty cool to actually see his son on campus. Clink is a dad and a coach, and we got to see it all at once. He doesn’t hide it. He brings the kids around there, and that’s pretty dope.”
