Newsstand: ESPN ranks former Notre Dame player a top 90 QB since 2000

On Friday, ESPN writer Bill Connelly ranked college football’s top 90 quarterbacks of the 2000s. Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn checked in at No. 51.

“We all thought Charlie Weis was a genius when he showed up in South Bend and Notre Dame immediately charged to its first top-10 finish in 12 years,” Connelly said. “Weis’ reputation fell apart pretty quickly, however, when Quinn ran out of eligibility.”

During his four-year Notre Dame career, which spanned 49 games, Quinn completed 929 of 1,602 passes for 11,762 yards, 95 touchdowns and 39 interceptions. The Cleveland Browns selected him with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft.

No other Irish quarterbacks appeared on Connelly’s list.
