Michigan defensive coordinator Wink Martindale joined the ‘GM Shuffle’ show and discussed his first several months at U-M and back in the college game, where he hadn’t coached in 20 years.

“[Former Michigan defensive coordinator] Jesse [Minter] told me when I was coming up here, ‘hey — at Michigan, every day is Tuesday.’ At first I was like, what are you talking about? He said, ‘It’s football 24/7,’” Martindale revealed. “If you’re a football freak, you love it. And these kids up here are unbelievable. We were gone recruiting the whole month of May, you’re leaving the office and there’s a group of 10 to 12 guys down there at the Glick [practice facility] working out, working on 1-on-1s, working on technique.

“It’s pretty cool, and it’s really good for the heart of the football purist, to go out and see the work these guys put in. It’ a lot of fun.”

On3’s J.D. PicKell and Andy Staples discuss the “hard truth” surrounding the sour grapes rival fans have about Michigan winning the national championship last season.

“If that is all you’ve got, to hold over Michigan right now, look inward”-@Andy_Staples

Sounds like a lot of internal reflection needs to be taking place down in Columbus.

Quote Of The Day

“We talked about a bunch of stuff, but it was mainly about getting down on a personal level. It wasn’t even that much football. It was more about how Michigan works and how he sees me there. It was a great time.”
