New USC commit Dakoda Fields now becoming recruiter; “It’s time to build this class up”

Landing a commitment from 4-star cornerback Dakoda Fields may prove to be one of the most important recruiting pulls for USC in the 2024 class.
This would make sense simply in terms of his on field talent but even more so when you factor in what he is planning to do before he arrives on campus next year. Fields is taking it upon himself to be a lead recruiter for the Trojans 2024 class.
Field was one five commitments for the Trojans between Sunday and Monday. He was also the highest ranked of the group and the current class for USC at No. 91 overall.
I exchanged some messages earlier today with Fields about his recruiting efforts and what he is planning to do. I can’t share everything from our conversation but I will give you the basics and a message from Fields.
In talking about his commitment to USC, he acknowledged how good it felt to finally make the decision. He followed that up with, “Now it’s time to build this class up.”
Two personal targets of Fields right now are St John Bosco’s Kyngstonn Viliamu and Chaminade’s Marquis Gallegos.
The start of the month has been the one of dreams for USC fans, and many have said as much in the message boards. The fans are not the only ones hyped up about this month. Fields has big expectations for how USC will fare in recruiting over the next few weeks.
“This month will put us on the map for sure.”
The OV finalized the deal for USC
Fields said the official visit last weekend eliminated any doubt. It also didn’t hurt that former USC All-American Safety Taylor Mays was one of his hosts last weekend.
“We met the professors, we met the team chaplain and I got to experience what everyone talks about, that USC is a big family,” said Fields. “Throughout the weekend I realized there won’t be another school that offers a top-tier education and football program. Also, all of the opportunities USC and being in L.A. offers was something that became more important.”
