New RPM pick: Michigan State to land California OL

New RPM pick: Michigan State to land California OL

I have placed a new recruiting prediction machine (RPM) pick for Michigan State to land class of 2025 offensive lineman Drew Nichols after an official visit to East Lansing, which wrapped up on June 9. Nichols (6-4, 280) is recruited as an interior offensive lineman by Spartan offensive line coach Jim Michalczik.

SpartanMag.com is hearing that the visit went very well over the weekend. Nichols could have a decision before upcoming visits to UCLA and Boise State. His other offers include Miami (FL), Arkansas, Minnesota, Arizona, and more.

The Temecula (CA) Murrieta Valley High School offensive lineman was offered by Michigan State and Michalczik back in March. The official visit this weekend was the first visit to East Lansing for Nichols.

“Coach Michalczik was just talking about how I’ve met him before and how he has a mathematical approach to coaching,” Nichols said after the Spartan offer. “I appreciated that because I’m very mathematically wired too, and it really sounds like he knows what he’s talking about. Most of the questions were about me and my family, I think he was just trying to get to know me better.

“As I said, he seemed like a brilliant coach who knows exactly what he’s looking for. I’m excited to see what he builds at Michigan State.”

Michigan State has a connection to the California offensive lineman and his family, as his mother grew up in the state of Michigan and had two brothers who attended Michigan State University.

“My mom’s side lives out there and her brothers all attended Michigan State,” Nichols said. “It is a beautiful area for sure. My mom’s family is from Northern Michigan. We visit all the time. So I think it won’t be too difficult to get a visit done.”

Nichols is ranked a three-star, the No. 1075 overall recruit in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings. He is also ranked the No. 94 interior lineman and the No. 89 recruit in California.

Michigan State currently holds six commitments in the class of 2025. Offensively, Nichols would join three-star California quarterback Leo Hannan, along with three-star Wisconsin tight end Emmett Bork, three-star Ohio wide receiver Braylon Collier, and in-state three-star running back Jace Clarizio

On the defensive side of the ball, Michigan State holds two commitments from three-star in-state linebackers Charles White and DiMari Malone
