New RPM pick for the Florida Gators

There is plenty of time for someone else to win him over. Still other official visits to take. Still unknown variables that could arise. But for now — on Friday, June 7 — the Florida Gators appear to be in the most favorable spot to land 4-star receiver Naeshaun Montgomery of Miami (Fla.) Central.

Because of this, I’ve submitted an On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for Billy Napier’s program to get Montgomery, the No. 35 receiver recruit in the county for the On3 Industry Rankings.

Montgomery officially visited the Gators last weekend. Next up are officials to LSU (June 14) and Penn State (June 21). Right now, nobody seems to be recruiting him harder than Florida and neither the Tigers nor the Nittany Lions has made him feel as much like a priority as the Gators. And in this recruitment, that is making an impact on him.

After taking in Gainesville last weekend, Montgomery told Gators Online that Florida was in the best spot. He echoed that when we spoke to him Thursday and again Friday.

Florida has a major need at receiver this cycle and could sign four of them. From a loaded receiver board, Montgomery appears to be a target the Gators are high on right now. Meanwhile, he continues to throw praise at the Florida staff. And, he loves the idea of playing with quarterback DJ Lagway, who himself has heavily recruited Montgomery.

“I’m a priority for them and I can definitely be a game-changer as a freshman and work with DJ Lagway,” Naeshaun Montgomery told On3’s Chad Simmons. “They’ve always been high, but it definitely put them up another notch.”

Montgomery would like to have a decision this summer if possible.

Obviously, you can’t count out LSU and Penn State. But will they push as hard for Montgomery as Florida has? If not, then he could be the Gators to lose. Right now, I love where Florida sits even though admittedly the summer could feel like an eternity if he waits until August to announce his decision. That’s my way of saying things always are fluid in recruiting.

But today, right now, the Gators have by far the most chatter in this recruitment.
