New On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine pick for Gators
During the past couple of weeks, two things have happened that led me to putting in a new On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine selection Thursday.
First, the Florida Gators offered 3-star tight end/athlete Tae’shaun Gelsey of Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside on May 17. Soon after, I was told it was likely — at least as of today — Florida will sign two tight ends in the 2025 class. We subsequently have learned there is a good bit of optimism in Gainesville entering Gelsey’s official visit with the Gators this weekend.
It sounds like the Gators want him. And based on his recent interview with Corey Bender of Gators Online, it appears Gelsey is high on Florida, too.
When you add it all up, you have to like the Gators here. And thus, I’ve made an official RPM pick for them to land the emerging Northeast Florida talent. (Corey made his pick earlier this week)

After signing only one tight end the previous cycle — 4-star Amir Jackson of Portal (Ga.) — it makes sense to me Florida would look at taking two in this class. If the Gators had only one spot here, I think they might be a little more patient since the tight end board is a bit crowded with solid prospects. But having a second spot gives you some flexibility. You can get one in the boat now and then be super selective with the remaining spot. And if it just so happens that Florida doesn’t land anyone else, you can always look to the portal.
Basically, getting one on board over the summer gives you options.
Gelsey has a commitment date scheduled for July 13. His official visit to Gainesville this weekend is going to play a significant role in how all of this shakes out. Will Florida push and make him feel like a priority? There is reason to believe it will. Will Gelsey feel at home and come away thinking he fits? If that happens, Florida probably is going to be difficult to beat.
