New On3 Recruiting Prediction: California’s DeAndre Carter will commit to Auburn

DeAndre Carter, a four-star offensive lineman from Mater Dei in Santa Ana, Calif., made a return trip to Auburn football for the Tigers’ Big Cat recruiting event. And he did it on his own dime.
A cross-country unofficial visit typically means the interest is high, and in this case, I certainly believe it does. So much so that I think Carter will commit to Auburn.
I have logged a prediction for Carter-to-Auburn and done so with a confidence level of 60 percent.
Big Cat visit was big for Carter
Carter and his parents arrived in Auburn on Friday. It was their second visit to the Plains this summer. The first came on an official visit in June, but this weekend was different.
Big Cat provided Carter with a more relaxed setting. He got to see a different side of Auburn, and it was a side he thoroughly enjoyed.
“It was great, I loved today, yes sir,” Carter said Saturday after Big Cat. “I loved it a lot (the first time), so I just came back one more time. Hopefully I would have the same liking as I did the first time.”
And he did.
“Family, I mean I love everything, but probably the thing that stands out more than the others is probably just like the family atmosphere,” Carter said. “A lot of colleges say they have it but I definitely feel it a lot here.”
He also sees an opportunity for early playing time.
“Just how much of an impact I can make,” Carter said. “How much importance and what I can do for myself here. What is best for myself. It is very important. It made me feel great. Just how important I feel, how important they make me feel and how I can contribute to the team.”
Decision could come soon
Carter has visited all three of his top schools. He visited Texas in January and Michigan State in June.
A decision could be next.
“I’m thinking about it, yes sir,” Carter said. “I think I have all the visits, I’d say I have my ideas on each school.”
And as of July 30, I think it will be Auburn.
Carter, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 340 pounds, is ranked the No. 146 overall recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks the No. 8 interior offensive lineman in the country and No. 16 overall recruit in California.
