New offer puts Iowa on top for Rashad Godfrey

After receiving a scholarship offer from Iowa on Tuesday, defensive back Rashad Godfrey has a new favorite at the top of his list. That is the Hawkeyes, who will now be hosting the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Florida native for an official visit later this month.
“I was offered by Coach Phil Parker, the defensive coordinator, today,” said Godfrey, who attends Armwood High School in Seffner, FL. “He said that I was a great player and had great character.”
Godfrey, who could play cornerback or safety in college, also holds offers from Boston College, Duke, South Florida, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, Connecticut, Liberty, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, and Western Michigan, among others. Once the Iowa offer came in, however, he immediately scheduled an official visit with the Hawkeyes and declared them his new favorite.
“I will be at Iowa June 23-25,” Godfrey said. “They are my top school.”
What makes the Hawkeyes stand out? Godfrey has been doing his research on the Iowa defense, especially the secondary led by Phil Parker, and likes everything that he has seen so far.
“I know they send a lot of DBs to the league and that’s my goal,” said Godfrey. “They play with great technique and communicate very well.”
Right now, Iowa is the only official visit that Godfrey has scheduled.
“I’d like to decide towards the beginning of this season,” Godfrey said. “But if I really like a school I visit, it might be even earlier.
