New “Inside the Trojans’ Huddle” (Tuesday, July 11) edition: Latest recruiting developments, recruiting rankings changes, Mater Dei 2024 recruits, more historical Big Ten program memories, Pac-12 future, and viewers’ questions and panel answers.
In Tuesday’s edition of Inside the Trojans’ Huddle, panelists Marc Kulkin, Chris Arledge, Bruce Bagni, and Greg Katz give their opinions and evaluations of last week’s latest recruiting developments, as well as upcoming recruiting news and updates, Mater Dei HS’s 2014 prospects, more historical Big Ten football program reflections, the Pac-12 future, and viewers’ questions and panel answers.
In the first half of the Huddle, the panel gives their views and analysis of Mater Dei corner Zabien Brown committing to Alabama. The panel also discusses the future July announcements of running back Taylor Tatum (Longview, TX) and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, and the chance that both will not commit to USC. The panel addresses the possibility that in Brown, Tatum, and KVA, all go elsewhere. What does that mean for the Trojans? Could it have been avoided?
The first half of the Huddle continues with the panel assessing the very talented Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei class of 2024, and of the Monarch’s five major recruits, none may commit to the Trojans. However, there is one MD player that the panel would definitely like to see commit who is still uncommitted at a position of need. Should USC fans be concerned with the Mater Dei recruiting situation?
The first half concludes with the challenge of Alabama recruiting the Southland hard and getting results. Was this a case of getting a foot in the door with former Mater Dei star quarterback Bryce Young, once a USC commit, and extending its influence? The panel definitely has some thoughts on this question. Does this go back to the Clay Helton era raising its ugly head?
Halftime brings some historic quick-hitting memories of three more Big Ten programs: Purdue, Illinois, and Indiana. Purdue has some special memories for a number of panel members in terms of players, traditions, and one very hot game against the Boilermakers in the Coliseum. By the way, can you name the Purdue QB that hot afternoon?
In the second half of the Huddle, the panel examines any fear or unknowns for the Trojans entering the Big Ten in 2024. Continuing, the panel has plenty to say about the future of the Pac-12, predicting what schools will leave the conference sooner rather than later. The panel predicts what schools could be left with no place to go if the other schools mentioned exit the conference.
Wrapping up the second half of the Huddle, the panel gives remarks pertaining to where they believe Notre Dame ends up when it’s all said and done – the Big Ten or the SEC. Then again, will ND stay in the ACC?
In Overtime, panelists give answers to viewers’ questions pertaining to candidates for the USC athletic director positions Salute to Troy, defensive positions and alignments, and preventing injuries that could affect the challenging second half of the season.
